In 2017, Michael Phan -a Vietnamese-American working in finance - returned to his homeland with his mother - Mama Phan . A fried chicken lover who ate spicy food four times a week, he searched everywhere for a hot sauce in Vietnam that matched the heat and flavor he was used to in the U.S. But the more he tried, the more disappointed he became.
He began researching the market and discovered that hardly anyone in Vietnam was growing Habanero peppers. That’s when the idea of growing super-hot chilies on native soil first took root.

In 2021, Michael and his wife co-founded Love & Spice - a passion project born from two spice-loving souls, a shared commitment to sustainable farming, and the desire to bring new flavor experiences to the Vietnamese table. Their first hot sauce bottles marked a turning point in Vietnam’s ultra-spicy sauce market.
Love & Spice follows a farm-to-table model—we grow some of the world’s hottest peppers right here in Vietnam and turn them into 100% natural hot sauces: no preservatives, no artificial colors, no MSG, no additives.
